Afghanistan Country Director for Roots of PeaceRoots of Peace is delighted to announce that Mr. Richard Thwaites has joined the organization as the new Country Director in Afghanistan, replacing J.D. Zach Lea, PhD, who is moving forth as the new RoP Program Director for our new Rural Business Support Program (RBSP). This $18 million funding from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) continues to expand the RoP agricultural development programs throughout greater Afghanistan.Richard is a veteran in Afghanistan, in leadership roles with Relief International, Christian Children's Fund, Plan International and Mercy Corp. In addition to Afghanistan, Richard has worked in Liberia, Indonesia, Bosnia, Nepal and South America.
