To celebrate New Years in Afghanistan, a planting ceremony was held recently near Kabul in the Parwan Province near Charikar. Key figures of the Afghanistan Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) were in attendance including Mr. Obaidullah Ramin, the Minister of MAIL, Eng. Mohammed Sharif Sharifi, Deputy Minister, and the Governor of Parwan. Roots of Peace presence was felt in this planting ceremony as it provided 600 different types of tree saplings for the Parwan Province. Additionally, Mir Shah Mir mentioned Roots of Peace during a brief speech for its participation in the ceremony. Many more thousands of trees will be planted in the upcoming years throughout Afghanistan under various programs Roots of Peace has embarked upon.
