"Instead of sending 'Candy-Grams' on Valentine's Day, our school sent 'Peace-Grams'. We gave up our candy to quench the thirst for peace in Afghanistan by building a water fountain for kids."

When I was first introduced to the Roots of Peace Penny Campaign, I was in the third grade. Their mission inspired me to return home and find every cent I had in my room. The next morning I arrived in my homeroom class and proudly presented my teacher with my life’s savings. Today, I am a High School Sophomore and a Roots of Peace Penny Campaign Student Ambassador. It is my goal to help other kids have the opportunity to make a change. There is no difference between giving a single penny, and every penny you have; the desire to help others and the pursuit of peace is absolutely priceless.

A Penny for Your Thoughts

Give us your "2 cents" for peace...

Thumbs-Up_500x_IMG_8847.jpg

Send us your name and a photo, your school name and city, and your inspirational story regarding "how" you raised your pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters (and "paper pennies")!   Submit your stories to PENNIES@rootsofpeace.org.

Read the stories that others have already sent us by clicking on a year in the "Archived Stories" section of this page.

100% of the "pennies" raised will go towards establishing schools & soccer fields on former minefields. Over 30 million pennies have already been raised by students to restore childhood dreams!
