Heidi Kuhn, Founder and CEO of Roots of Peace, had personal audience with Pope Benedict XVI today at the Vatican where the world leader recognized Roots of Peace’s efforts to convert deadly minefields into bountiful agricultural lands in war-torn countries.

Two Communities Commemorate 9/11 with Roots of Peace Penny Campaign Events.

San Rafael High School (SRHS) will host a special student assembly to honor the memory of those lost on “9/11,” recognize the everyday heroic efforts of local police and fire departments and kick-off the annual Roots of Peace Penny Campaign to raise money to help remove landmines in war-torn countries and build safe schools and playing fields.

Heidi Kuhn of San Rafael, founder the nonprofit organization Roots of Peace, was one of five recipients of the prestigious Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Award -- the National Jefferson Award for Public Service -- at a gala ceremony Tuesday in Washington, D.C.

Afghan Ambassador to the United States, Said T. Jawad, will take part in a symbolic grapevine planting ceremony on the grounds of Copia on April 16, 2007 at 11:00 am.

Pennies Needed for Peace, The St. Helena Star

What do you do with your pennies? Mine used to end up in a big jar that I took to the grocery store change machine once in a blue moon. I found a better use for them: Helping to solve a problem that threatens lives throughout the world. It’s called the Rotary Roots for Peace Campaign, and it could easily involve St. Helena schools and St. Helena banks.
