Press2011November 11, 2011Roots of Peace Call–To–Action: A Landmine-Free World by 2025 November 11, 2011—Napa Valley, California—This Veterans Day, Roots of Peace (RoP) announces a call to action for a Land Mine-Free world by 2025 and, in partnership with The Veterans Home of California–Yountville and the Napa Valley Film Festival, both vintners and veterans will get down on their hands and knees to “plant the roots of peace” Redwood grove. There are an estimated 70 million land mines planted in 70 countries; every 20 minutes a land mine explodes killing or maiming innocent people; and whether the boot of a soldier or the sandal of a child, landmines often miss their intended victims of war.
