Over 400 guests gathered in Rome, Italy, for a special fundraiser organized by Ms. Flavia Taggiasco, Roots of Peace European Director, and Princess Homaira Wali, grandaughter of the late King Zahir, as a benefit raising euros to replace the scourge of landmines with schools and soccer fields in Afghanistan.

To celebrate New Years in Afghanistan, a planting ceremony was held recently near Kabul in the Parwan Province near Charikar. Roots of Peace was there to participate in the ceremony.

The Sheldonian Theater, often referred to as the architectural jewel of Oxford, created yet another Skoll illusion amidst the imitation of an ancient round Roman theater building.  As the Social Entrepreneurs entered the theater in awe, Emperors stone heads on Broad Street positioned in a circular pattern gave an imposing air that there was “something special” within these walls.  Indeed there was.
